Welcome to SOWLE Centre, a shining light for families of children with Down Syndrome and other Special Educational Needs throughout South Africa. Established in 2011 from a place of love and urgency, our non-profit organization, rooted in Christ’s teachings, is dedicated to offering unparalleled education and support to each and every child in our care.
Our mission is clear: to nurture the hearts and minds of children with Down Syndrome and other special educational needs, guiding them towards their fullest potential. We believe in celebrating their strengths, supporting their challenges, and fostering an environment where they can flourish, grow, and learn.
Our vision at SOWLE Centre is to create a world where every child with Down Syndrome and other Special Educational Needs is empowered to flourish, supported by a community built on love, respect, and boundless opportunity.
Every child is unique, and so is our approach to education. Through personalized learning plans, integrated therapies, and a compassionate team of educators, we empower our students to thrive in a safe, supportive, and tranquil environment reminiscent of a "home away from home".

Founding Inspiration
In January 2011, a young boy with Down syndrome sparked the inception of SOWLE Centre. Faced with limited educational options, his parents sought a nurturing environment where he could thrive. Recognizing this need, we embarked on a mission to provide quality education for children with diverse special needs.
Ongoing Support
Continuous assessment and observation form the cornerstone of our approach. Every student receives tailored support, ensuring they are challenged and encouraged as they progress along their educational journey. Our commitment to individualized care fosters holistic development and empowers each child to reach their full potential.
Freedom to Flourish
As an independent school and proud member of ISASA, we have the flexibility to design a curriculum and environment that meet the unique needs of our students. Within the framework of the South African Education Act, we prioritize their growth and well-being, guiding them towards functional adulthood and fulfilling lives.
